What is 'The Microphones'?

'The Microphones' was a band created by Phil Elverum, in Anacortes, Washington. It only had one member, which was Phil himself, the genres of music that he made were a blend of Indie Folk, Indie Rock, Experimental, and Lo-Fi. His first studio album was 'Don't Wake Me Up' released in 1999 and distributed by K Records, soon followed by multiple other albums until Phil moved onto other musical projects.

The Glow Pt. 2

My favorite album by 'The Microphones' is 'The Glow Pt. 2' released in 2001. The title of this album is the continuation of a previous song by Elverum, titled 'The Glow', and the album cover came from the cover of an old dutch cook-book. The album is a mix of Indie Folk, Rock, Lo-Fi, and Experimental, it was recorded from May 23rd, 2000, to March 23rd, 2001, at Dub Narcotics Studio in Olympia, Washington. There are a total of 20 tracks on this album, which are: 'I Want Wind To Blow', 'The Glow Pt. 2', 'The Moon', 'Headless Horseman', 'My Roots Are Strong And Deep', 'Instrumental', 'The Mansion', '(Something)', '(Something) - 1', 'I'll Not Contain You', 'The Gleam Pt. 2', 'Map', 'You'll Be In The Air', 'I Want To Be Cold', 'I Am Bored', 'I Felt My Size', 'Instrumental - 2', 'I Felt Your Shape', 'Samurai Sword', and 'My Warm Blood'. This album tells a story of the feelings and emotions the narrator feels while going through a breakup, eventually culminating in the narrator's death. This is my favorite album of all time.
